Happy 2008!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!!

We just wanted to welcome all of you to 2008. We here in Japan celebrated the New Year 14 hours before our friends and family on the East Coast... and it was nice of you all to finally join us. :) The Japanese take the New Year Holiday very seriously and know how to celebrate in style. We, on the other hand, stayed in the comfort of our cozy home this New Year's since Jason was on call. To make up for it, we did host a delicious New Year's Day brunch with a few friends. We also watched IU play in it's first bowl game in several years. They lost, but it's nice to say we made it to a post-season game. We do have high hopes for our Indiana Hoosiers to make it to the Big Dance this March. Jacob loves to sport his IU gear (even if it's a bit small).

We can hardly believe that 2007 is over. It has obviously been a big year for us. Jason graduated from residency, we moved to the other side of the world...and what was the other big thing.....oh yes, JACOB WAS BORN!!!! We are going to try to keep 2008 just as exciting, but a little less eventful. We all made our New Year's Resolutions. Jason's and mine were the usual, lose weight, workout more, travel.....Jacob's resolutions we think are promising. He resolved to learn to crawl, walk, and build (start) his vocabulary, and determine his eye color. It's still questionable.

We had a lovely holiday season and we're sad to see it end. We didn't get a white Christmas, however Mother Nature is making up for it now. We got about 5 inches of snow last night, and there is more to come this week. The timing is perfect as Jason and I are ready to buckle up our skis and hit the Japanese mountains for the first time. Our friendly next door neighbor and her 15 year-old daughter are going to watch Jacob when Jason and I go on the ski trip. It will be the longest amount of time we've left Jacob, but we're all feeling ready for the big step. Hopefully we'll have a fabulous, injury-free ski trip and have beautiful pictures to share with you all next weekend.

Hope you all had a wonderful start to 2008!!

I like the picture that shows Jacob conquering the Grinch this holiday season, by laying on him. Job well done!

Have fun skiing!! Maybe the neighbors daughter can teach Jacob how to text message =)

Happy New Year!

Love,
