SuperBowl XLII kicked off at 8:30am Monday in Misawa. Most of the Base was granted a 'Down Day" for the SuperBowl. (Casey ought to love that; she loves all the made up holidays Jason gets off!) The hospital as well as all of the administrative offices were shut down. Schools were still in session, but from all accounts, classes this morning were spent watching the game. The F-16 pilots were still in the air, however we figured our tax money has surely funded flat screen TVs in the cockpits. If you are in the Navy and stationed in Misawa, you unfortunatly only got a "half-day" and had to report to your duty station after the game. Sorry guys!
You may assume since the game started so early that parties are hard to come by. But not so in our circle. Several friends came over for an early start time. PJ's were the dress code! We enjoyed warm coffee cake, breakfast casseroles, banana and monkey breads, fruit salad and Belgian waffles. Drinks were bloody mary's and mimosas. We even enjoyed all the commercials with the latest and greatest Slingbox technology! A few of our friends were die-hard Pats fans. We didn't hold that against them though. They were good sports considering the outcome of the game.

Interesting observation…you said PJs were the dress code…how come no one told the men that? I doubt they wear football jerseys or hooded sweatshirts to bed…I guess you all do everything backwards when there is a fourteen hour time difference…or maybe it is odd to hold a can of Coors Light in your PJs…
Love you lots!
